Something not right

I went on a job interview the other day. I've reached there early ...a lady, named Linda, brought me up to their office. The office looks empty. She gave me the application form and a list of questions. Sigh...I needed to complete one essay writing and one accounts question. The essay was alright but the accounts question? It's been quite a while since I did a profit & loss account and a balance sheet. I truly think that the question would be a breeze for those who did this as a monthly job. So in the end, I did not complete the question. My profit & loss account doesn't show the correct profit figure. My balance sheet did not balance. Coming to think of it...was I supposed to be there ? I was thinking that my general knowledge of preparing accounts has been locked away ever since I stepped my foot into tax. I felt depressed when I was in the interview room. Felt humiliated. I'm a accounting graduate...for god's sake. I know I can prepare the accounts...if I have some preparations before hand. But still...

I wanted to leave the room immediately. I was not in perfect form to be interviewed. I spent more than an hour struggling to answer that accounts question. I had wasted my time. I had wasted the potential employer's time.

I did get an interview from them. The gentleman, which I was told that he is a manager...but he doesn't look like one. Didn't wore a tie. Is it because it was after office hours ? Maybe. He asked me...the most popular question in job interviews - "Tell me about yourself".

I started to talk about what I do in my present company. It was alright because I've done that several times. Then he started to tell me that the position for this interview is not the one I applied for. Shocking man! Well, not much difference anyway. I failed even before the interview, regardless what position that I was interviewed for. At the end of the interview...my last words was "I don't think I'll suit the job. Sorry for taking your time".

I think that interview was a wake up call for me. So...what's next ?
